Press Reviews
"This cat is so hip he outwits himself. Funky, greasy, nasty and just too damn clever to be real. But guess what, Steve gets multiple plays in my house and gets my toes to tappin' every time. If John Lennon, David Lindley and Kieth Richards were in a band, this is a glimpse of what it would sound like. "Actor on the Edge" is a guitar pickin' killer!"swrecords.net Newsletter Oct, 2000
"...'Actor on the Edge'..This song contains a cool, funky, blues rock groove with great vocals. The lyrics are simplistic but very alluring and the music is fun to listen to and enough to keep the place jumpin'..." 4 stars, The Global Muse.com
" Song - 'No Tomorrow'..Boy! This is very cool. Moody, gutsy, bluesy, down and dirty, and performed
incredibly well. A nice voice for this style. A little of a Dylan quality to
it. As much as I enjoy the slide playing and guitar picking on this song, the
singing is a real focus, and all elements compliment each other incredibly
well. I couldn't dare make any comment on this one that would reflect
anything that I think would make it better. It's perfect for the style
presented. An excellent artist I'm happy to be introduced to. Check Steven
Knechtges out!"... Bob Porri's Triple Play, www.mp3artistarchive.com
"I couldn't pronounce his name if you paid me to, but Steven Knechtges "Actor on the Edge" is hands down the most original thing I have heard in a long time! He has a quirky alt. country style but with far more funkiness than any of his contemporaries. He exudes a straight forward soulful honesty in his vocals and a compelling mastery of his genre defying acoustic guitar stylings. The production is raw, but it works perfectly for the style that Mr. Knechtges is going for. The straight forward vocals, hooky guitars, and bouncy drums all come together seemlessly. Hands down Steven Knechtges has to be the best artist in his genre on MP3.com. This is not even a style of music I particularily like, but I will certainly be adding him to my MP3 station immediately. I highly recomend this artist! 9.5 out of 10."
