Artist History
*In March of 1997 something unusual was formed by a unique group
of four guys we call Sludge!. For the past four years, Sludge!
has accomplished what many bands haven't in ten years of
exisistence by releasing four different forms of musical disaster.
With the release of the 1997 "New Jersey Hatecore" demo, Sludge!
managed to create a swelling buzz around the band. They sold nearly
4,000 demos in a very short amount of time.
*Bolstered by frequent and well-attended live concert appearances,
Sludge! released its "Alone & Twisted" demo in 1998. This release
unleashed a torrent of international underground music support and
hard music radio airplay, as well as many interviews
and reviews in the underground extreme music press.
*Sludge! wanted to prove their dedication to the underground
music scene and released the "Self-Titled" 7" E.P. featuring
two new songs of heavy, unique metallic hardcore. This extremely
limited edition (300), hand-numbered colored vinyl release
solidified the band's reputation amongst vinyl collectors.
*This E.P. helped land a releasing deal with a small label
called Twist of Faith Records near the end of 1999. "Behavior
Modification Theory," the band's debut full-length CD
was released to much fanfare. To celebrate, Sludge! went on
a series of mini-road tours to promote the new disc an meet
with fans across the nation.
*Now Sludge! moves forward and announces the release of a 2-song
E.P. gathered from the upcoming new album to be released during
Spring 2001, the E.P. demonstrates Sludge's continued musical
evolution. Singer, songwriter Dan Snyder plays guitar on five
of the new tracks. The new disc was recorded & mixed
at Lakeside Recording in Browns Mills, NJ by Bill Berends of Mastermind.
*Look out, Sludge! is coming back harder and heavier this time arou |

Press Reviews
*Sludge! is as gritty and harsh as the blood, spit, sweat, & beer that violates the floor of every
violent mosh pit. They lurch and careen between thrash, hard core, & power metal with up
front, very human lyrics & vocals. They get right to the point in a convincing and evoking way.
The music pounds, encouraging aggression and flailing fists. It is just the right mixture of
primal force and social awareness in true underground style.
Neo-Barbaric Zine ( Ashville, PA ) Review by CHC
*Finally these bastards spent a little of their money and released a CD instead of those
cheesy tapes. Now more people can listen to what I think is the greatest hardcore band out
there. Why else would they have been interviewed in these pages? Sure they have a lot of
metal influences as well but they are primarily hardcore which is not my favorite style of
metal. For me to want to play this over and over again must mean it's really great. Dan ( who
is Mr. Manners and friendly as hell ) really gets his aggressions out with the band because
he sounds like he wants to fucking kill himself & take you with him! The rest of the band lays
down the thick trudging sound with ease that contains Dan's rage. Just great stuff. BONUS,
the CD case is the same green color as the FISHER PRICE pop up toys from the 1970's! (
Our esteemed editor Joe pointed this out to me ) That is all. now order the Bitch!
