Artist History
Ska Blue began as a group of sixth-graders in a band called "The Crybabies." Despite varying membership, the group practiced infrequently in Ricky Watts' basement, and was essentially just a talent show band through most of middle school. In late 1998, Andy Arriaga moved to Granville and hooked up withthe group. Shortly after, the band got Christa Rice to sing for them. Retaining Ricky, Jacob Ruff, and Mike Morris from the original line-up, they practiced diligently and got their first real gig in February 1999 at the Franc Club. Hard-pressed for a name, Ska Blue was coined by Andy's sister Sarah from some typo error. From there, gigs have come fairly steady, despite working around the members' various sports schedules. Ska Blue has played on the Riverfront in Columbus, the Fourth of July streetfair in Granville, among other places, and is currently anticipating an all-day show at High Fives in Columbus.
