Artist History
Pachamama is the yugoslav musical group which performs the music of the Andes on authentic instruments. Its name in the language of the Quechuas means "The Mother Earth" and is one of the principal divinities in the religion of the autochtonous inhabitants of the Andean region. There is a lot of classic music influence in Pachamama's interpretation of andean music and therefore classical instruments (like piano or classical guitar) are incorporated together with pure autochtonous instruments like tarkas or antaras. The members also play some renaissance pieces using andean instruments. The general idea is to make parallels between various kinds of music and to point to the historical influences among them. |
