'Alterations Garden' is a collection of nine elegant bass-centered compositions by the artist. "Basile's playing is a bass-lover's nectar(Vision Magazine review)". The album is founded on the colors of a contemporary Southwestern jazz quartet: acoustic bass, classical guitar(Fred Benedetti), saxophone (Tripp Sprague) and Latin percussion (Ian Shields). There are guest appearances by flautist/conguero RichardTibbitts, jazz guitarist Peter Sprague, and maraquista Peoho Basile. Jeff Basile (also known as Jeff Pekarek) a San Diego-based artist, hasdrawn on Latin, East European, Celtic, and Indian folkmusic sources in this opus. |

Artist History
Jeff Pekarek (Jeff Basile) is a 42 year old native of San Diego, California, with 25 years of experience as a professional musician and entertainer. He was the youngest member of the San Diego Symphony when he joined the contrabass section at age seventeen. He performed with the orchestra from 1975-79, and during the summer pops concerts backed up such luminaries as Benny Goodman, Sara Vaughn, and Sergio Mendez. After releasing his first album of originals in 1981, he became a bandleader in his own right, fronting several successful period music and folkmusic ensembles. In addition he is the principal arranger for filmaker and composer Yale Strom. |
