Artist History
I started playing with a friend when I was 12. Fernando played keyboards, I played guitar (full melodies on one string!). Then, I took classical guitar lessons for 2 years, and that's when I began playing a lot. I couldn't put down my guitar. Every day when I got home from school I played for hours. This for many years. Playing has helped me meet a lot of people. All moves in my life had a musical motivation in the end. In 1985, I came to Chicago searching for the blues... and I got many! Once here, I discovered the music of Egberto Gismonti, an incredible Brazilian musician. So, in 1988 I went to Brazil. I absorbed as much as I could of that magical place and I came back with a completely different perspective of rhythm. In particular, I loved the music of Joao Bosco and the musical poetry of Caetano Veloso. I know these are not the best recordings you'll hear, but I hope they may inspire you somehow. |
