Artist description
Amarillo, Texas resident, Ed Montana, grew up in a musical family. At the early age of seven he learned to play guitar and banjo. By age ten, he recorded and toured throughout the midwest with his father's polka band. Since then, the music business has steered Ed to many other parts of the world. He has traveled throughout the United States performing at P.R.C.A. (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) rodeos, state fairs, and various western festivals. In addition, he has spent three to four weeks each summer since 1989 taking his solo act to festivals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland where his unique style and rich baritone voice make him a popular headliner.. For six consecutive years Ed entertained at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City and Las Vegas. His rapport with country audiences is warm and infectious--so much so that, when he's not "pickin and grinnin" he often serves as a rodeo and team roping announcer. Perhaps Ed's positive relationship with his audience stems from his heritage - Ed is a true cowboy. He grew up on his family's working ranch in southwest Utah where building fences, bailing hay and working cattle and horses were all in the daily routine. Still Ed's first love is music, and his career, to date, is quite impressive. Ed has opened shows for the likes of Moe Bandy, Lee Greenwood, Red Stegal, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hoyt Axton, and Tom T. Hall. He has worked with many western singing legends including Roy Rogers, Rex Allen, Sr., Johnny Western, Eddie Dean, Hank Thompson, Kitty Wells, Alabama, and Johnny Bush. Ed recently cut his latest CD album in Branson, Missouri with his new band, The Honky Tonk Heros, a group of Nashville pros who have all graced the Grand Ole Opry stage and backed many of the biggest stars in Country music.
