Artist History
Deovolente mixes heavy metal, progressive rock, experimental electronic, and new wave.
It is evident that psychology and symbology is influential on the lyrics; yet
despite the multiple influences Deovolente maintains the rather general
categorization of alternative rock.
Deovolente started out as a recording project for Chris Chillier (Quiet Time, Doghead)
and Cliff White (Naked Vanilla, Piston, Meteorites). Upon completion
of the second CD, Mike Travis (Naked Vanilla, Meteorites) and Eric Vasquez
(Meteorites, Cesna) were recruited to form a live band. |

Press Reviews
Deo volenteCliff White and Chris Chillier have just released a new album Deovolente: In the Distance (visit http://www.commiepinkorecords.com for a Real Audio taste of what the album is like). The darkly industrial, nine-inch-nailish music-with-a-message has lots of recognizably Kyma bits sprinkled throughout. Notice the morph between tracks 4 and 5, a modulated "sandy guitar" sound on track 5, the electronic wind on track 10, and mysterious outro on track 17, and numerous other smaller Kyma touches. Cliff is already at work on the next album and intimates that it will include even more "Kyma tinkering".-November 30, 2000 "Eighth Nerve" (Symbolic Sound'sNewsletter to Kyma enthusiasts) |
