Artist History
[DARYL] began as a thought in Dylan’s head a few months prior to the break up of his and Jeff’s previous band. Dylan began writing a back log of songs in his bedroom and after doing a small tour their band broke up giving Dylan the time work on [DARYL] full time. He recruited Jeff to keep playing bass and the two set out to find the remaining elements to make the band work. They discovered David playing keyboards with good friends and local Dallas favorites Lewis. After trying out a few different drummers, Dylan decided that the best thing for band would be their good friend Spammie. The line-up now secure the band began to put together Dylan’s songs in September of 1999. They recorded a 4 song, 8-track demo in October, which began to get radio play almost instantly around the Dallas area. The band played their first show at the end of October and was immediately spotted by URININE records owner/operator SiD, who was on tour with the band [DARYL] was playing with. Playing with touring bands like Rainer Maria, The Anniversary, Paris, Tx, The Gloria Record, Pop Unknown, etc, and many larger Dallas bands like Chomsky, Baboon, Lewis, Deathray Davies, helped the band to work their way into the Dallas scene. The ball was now rolling for the band they continued to play shows around the Dallas area and did a few other regional shows. The band entered the studio in February of 2000 to record their debut CDep for URININE. They came out of the studio with the 5 songs for “communication:duration”.The band did a short Midwest tour in March and upon returning they decided that something was missing from the band. Dylan at the time playing keyboards, guitar, and singing, Dave also doing lots of keyboard work and playing guitar, they decided to bring in a fifth member to relieve the two of some extra keyboard work and add another dimension to the band. Chad who was a good a friend of theirs was asked to help out doing a few things and ended up being a permanent fixture in the line-up. With the release of “communication:duration” in June [DARYL] hit the road again for another Midwestern tour to support the ep. The band is planning an East Coast tour for late summer/early fall. The CD can be heard on many Dallas stations: 94.5 KDGE, 93.3 Merge, 88.1 KNTU, 88.7 KTCU, etc. |
