    Artist History
2steps2nowhere was formed under the tentative name Minor detailS in 1996. Devon Dawson was just a grade school student when he met now best friends and band mates, Neil Johnson and Shawn Scott. All three shared a passion of music and not long after their joining, were performing with a temporary drummer. They began getting recognition through out the community and the surprising receptive rock scene in Southern California before they were even in high school. In 1999 they recorded their self-titled demo EP under the new band name 2steps2nowhere. It received critical acclaim from music fans and professionals alike, earning them the reputation as the best rock band to emerge from the scene since a then growing Alien Ant Farm. They played as many shows as they could, being turned away from many due to their young age. But by 2002 they had gathered a large enough fan base to support the recording and release of their first full-length album "Monotonous Sunday". The ten-song album marked a change in the group as the boys tapped into their large love of jazz as well as gaining a harsher edge not many fans were used to. They also had a personnel change with Kevin Hooper joining 2s2nw on drums. Since its release on Tuesday, September 10, the c.d. has been more successful than any local release of an independent band's album. Many critics have praised the c.d. as 'a turning point in local music', 'an amazing milestone, hooks, passion and lyrics like I have never seen', while some marking it 'the best thing I've heard by any artist, any age, any place in several years'. With the response overwhelming, the band begins touring the Southern California region in October 2002, eager to see how music lovers will receive their odd hybrid of rock and jazz.

    Press Reviews
After a yearlong hiatus, the boys that brought you Blissful Me and Better Days are finally back in action with their newest release on Minor Details Records, "Monotonous Sunday". The first full-length release isn't what you'd expect from a bunch of 18-year olds out of the little town of Moreno Valley, packing a surreal punch. These powerful guitar riffs, beautiful drum patterns, and catchy, well-written lyrics are sure to grab anyone's attention. The opening track The Persuasion Principle creates this odd, spacey mood, with a gentle mix of almost scatted lyrics and a delayed guitar. The song is deceivingly catchy and will definitely get you hooked, but you won't fall in love with the c.d. until you hit tracks like Dressed In White, With The Ghost, Come Undone and Radio Flyer Love. Be sure to check out track 8, the lead single Linger - one listen and you'll be humming the lyrics all day. Like any well-rounded album, the last song, title track Monotonous Sunday is a loud, heart wrenching song that shows you the raw talent of these kids. Miss this c.d. and you'll be missing out on hearing the new face of alternative rock. These guys defiantly have talent, and with a c.d. like "Monotonous Sunday", they'll defiantly be around for many years to come. Terry Henshaw, Underground Talent Magazine
