Artist History
Formed in the summer of ‘95, The Evinrudes’ first CD, Little Red Stars , released in early ‘96, quickly sold out in local stores as the group diligently set about building a grass -roots fan base and attracting music industry attention. The band’s next release, an eponymous five-song CD EP, released a year later, was even more successful, with the songs “Drive Me Home” and “Have Some Rain” gaining enthusiastic airplay without major label support. “Drive Me Home” became the #3 most-played track on Nashville’s biggest rock station, WKDF and was held in medium to heavy rotation for 2 years. The song also appeared on the popular Fox Television series, “Party of Five” in 1999. The band continually played endless streams of club and college gigs, developed a devoted live following and signed with Mercury Records in the spring of 1998. The first record was completed over the summer and held for later release. Upon the scheduled time of release in the fall of ‘98, Mercury Records merged with a larger company, Seagram’s, the CD was put on hold and eventually the label folded into an entirely different company, leaving the Evinrudes, among hundreds of other artists, without a deal. However, the company recently granted the ownership of the CD masters to Brian and Sherry who, in addition to selling the CD at shows and recording songs for a new CD, are constantly exploring other opportunities to get the music to the people. |
