Artist description
AN ORCHESTRA OF 1890 – RE-CREATED THROUGH THE TECHNOLOGY OF 2000 . . . The Cassel-Felstein Grand Ducal Court Orchestra*, to give it its full name, is a digital reconstruction of a symphony orchestra of the immediate post-Wagnerian period (about 1880-1900). Instrumental sounds and playing styles have been carefully researched, using early recordings and written sources. Even the mistakes are authentic! * In German: erzherzogliche kasselfelsteinische Hofkapelle. |

Artist History
I have been working on this project since 1995, although its ultimate origin lies in research I carried out nearly 30 years ago for a projected book on the history of classical music on record 1878-1939. |
