NEXUS MAKING HISTORY“Their music temps you in soothingly then rips into you like a Great White with a migrain... watch out for this bunch!”“Open your musical window and take a breath of fresh Nexus air...”“Effortlessly merging styles to provide an original and passionate sound that draws you in...”Nexus are an original, unsigned band, who reside in the East of England. The members of Nexus are (left to right): Paul Faulkner (Bass), Paul Gillings (Vocals & Harmonica), Matt Coe (Guitars) and Mike Cook (Drums). Since their formation in late '98, Nexus have had some fantastic response from both their live and recording ventures. Welcome To Our World, the band’s first recording, proved to many what happens when you take four strikingly talented original musicians, who are bored with the local scene, stick them in a room, and say, “Play.”. This CD received rave reviews in a number of top national music publications, including 'Melody Maker' and 'Guitarist'. Their sound exploded onto the local music scene with a blast that even they weren’t ready for but, fortunately, the public were gagging for! The E.P was also to secure them live dates at various prestigious venues. Since their live debut in March '99 they have performed at such venues as 'Cairo Jacks' in London's Soho, Norwich's 'Fat Pauly's' club, supporting top indie punk band 'Fungus', Norwich Arts Centre supporting Coldplay, The Oval RockHouse, The Brickmakers Club and The Brewery. Their awesomely huge sound has filled the air at festivals, having been asked to play in front of a 4,000 strong crowd at the area's top music event 'The East Point Music Explosion'. Their performance was also broadcast on radio reaching an audience of 67,000 people! With pressure now growing from an already sizeable fan base, Nexus returned to the studio for their second E.P, "You Are". A recording the band were particularly proud of, continually evolving their already diverse songwriting skills, and working with the constructive critique that arised from the promotion of "Welcome To Our world". This fresh dynamic sound echoed to the ears of music lovers, and led to local radio station Beach FM to include the band on their Sunday Session, and an airing on Radio Broadland. 24 hours after the Beach session, the band's track 'Stripped' went straight to the top of the area’s mp3.com internet chart. The numerous sell out gigs that followed proved that this band had something special and sell-able! The subsequent reviews built this band into local legends, but local just isn’t big enough for a band whose sound and personality would fill stadiums. The band like to describe their music as passionate, emotive and above all extremely original. Influences and comparisons are inevitable with any band, but when asked, the main reaction of any listener is that they were taken to a place they had not been to for a long time...
