Artist description
Where to begin? John Murray is one of the most influential and revered electric guitar players to come out of the Vancouver pop and rock 60’s scene. The versatile left-hander contributed deft sweetening to Terry Jacks’ monster hit SEASONS IN THE SUN, as well as holding down the lead guitar chair in Susan & Terry Jacks’ THE POPPY FAMILY.He was also guitarist for PAPA BEAR’S MEDICINE SHOW, one of Vancouver’s best 60’s bands.During the 70’s, Murray collaborated with the Vancouver indie artist John Lyle, doing network radio, two record albums, and co-writing many songs, two of which, MRS. SANTA MISSES SANTA & THE LOVE TRAIN EXPRESS, were regional hits. Many of these tunes are available on the ERASERS mp3.com site. In particular, check out Murray’s melodies for LIFE IS A BREEZE & CLOSE YOUR EYES, two songs which anticipate the styles featured on the site you’re visiting now.To get a feel for Murray’s music, listen to the mp3, LULLABLY TO THE STARS, a lovely, 3 guitar arrangement lamenting the recent loss of his Mother. Here, you feel the rhythm of the artist, and the spare arranging which is an apt introduction to the heart and soul of one of world music’s finest writers and performers.Forge ahead and download them all. You won’t be disappointed! |
