Artist History
Jim Speer of folk-rock band Broadside Electric joined experimentalist Mike Ciul in 1995. The pair named themselves Unsound and Mike became Cap'n Mikee. Broadside Electric's fiddler Helene Zisook collaborated for about a year, in which the trio created vignettes of "low-budget performance art." Mike and Jim produced A Nautical Tale, a performance involving story, slides, music, and food, and three new performers. Vocalists Heather Batson and Jessie Bennett became permanent members, and mind-control maven Mike Benedetti put in a guest appearance. Unsound is working on a sequel to A Nautical Tale. |
