Artist History
The Ohio-based Blackwater Band has been together performing since 1998. Their sound is that of riff-oriented rock and roll decorated with rootsy acoustic guitar, all with one focus: good song writing. This, coupled with an extremely strong stage presence, has earned them an increasingly large and devout following throughout Ohio. Gigs with Nine Days, the Why Store, SR-71, Train, Stroke 9, Lynryd Skynryd, Ted Nugent, Stevie Nicks and Deep Purple have afforded the quartet the opportunity to show critics and fans alike that they are capable of playing with some of the best bands in rock. As a result, the band is now doing a large amount of college performances at schools such as Capital University, Ohio University, The Ohio State University, and Miami University.
In February of 2000, they released their debut album, "Stopping at Green Lights" -an excellent blend of rock, pop, folk, and blues influences, to stunning sales results and positive reviews from area and national critics. The album’s first two shipments were sold out and a third shipment is currently on the way to satisfy the demand.
The band is now celebrating the release of their sophomore album, “Someday...or Whenever” in of 2001. The record was made at John Schwab Studios in Columbus with master engineer/producer Joe Viers (Big Back Forty, Tim Easton, Ekoostik Hookah).
Upon the record’s release, they plan to return to the venues in Columbus that have led to their impressive fan base (Ludlow’s, Little Brother’s, Polaris Amphitheater, The Newport Music Hall, Northberg Tavern, etc.). They are also beginning to play regionally, scheduling shows in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis. They have a complete catalogue of original tunes as well as hours upon hours of cover songs, and a complete stage set up of professional quality equipment, plus their own self-operated P.A. system. Their new website is currently up and running at http://www.blackwaterband.com , and free downloads of their music are available at http://www.mp3.com/blackwaterband. |
