Artist History
Barbara never could have imagined, as she crouched in the safe darkness of her bedroom closet singing Aretha Franklin tunes until her was sore, that the shy, isolated little girl she was then, would earn the respect of some of the most brilliant talents in 20th century music. Barbara was born to sing her soul and she always knew that, but she was hindered by paralyzing stage fright. Although the travels of her youth included close relationships with the likes of Peter Yarrow, Albert Grossman, and Phil Ramone, as well as a successful modeling career, part of Barbara was still singing to herself in that closet. It wasn't until she and her two children, Luke and Thatcher, had survived two devastating divorces and found a new home in San Francisco that Barbara finally flung open the door of that closet and sang to the world. In the ten years since then, Barbara has created an eclectic body of work that could be seen as chronicle of her self-discovery and growth as a strong, independent artist, woman, and mother. As you now join Barbara on her journey, you find her reconnecting with her musical roots and preparing a new set of Bluesy Lounge and Jazz. |

Re: the release of Hearts Dance
From The Heart To The Streets
By Stacy Trevenon
To Barbara Anderson, music is a matter of building heart-to-heart connections. She crafts her songs to spring from the composer's heart to touch the hearts of the listeners, stirring them to come to the circle of humanity - and maybe do something to make life better. Such as understanding and helping those without a home. "Evening's Bed," Anderson's new CD of all-original songs sketches a lyrical portrait of life on the streets. Anderson will divert a third of the profits to the National Coalition for the Homeless, Wash. D.C.
