    Artist History
The Sign-Offs burst on the Cleveland scene in November 1999, leaving a trail of drop-jawed followers. Despite their brazen youth, The Sign-Offs captivated audiences with infectious hooks and talent well beyond their years. Seizing on the band's unique sound and style, local clubs began pairing The Sign-Offs with national acts. Since forming, the band has shared the stage with Backyard Babies, The Black Halos, The Lunachicks, The Yo-Yo's, The Gimmicks, and U.S. Bombs. After surviving the sonic assault of a Sign-Offs show, the Cleveland Free Times recently gushed "the band nailed down hook-filled punk rock and roll, spiking the cocksure sass of the Stooges with the sneer of Guns N' Roses." The Free Times affirmed what the band and its loyal following have known from the start: The Sign-Offs are "one of the strongest raw rock acts in a town glutted with garage rock contenders." Standing on the shoulders of giants, the Sign-Offs tip their hats to the greats while forging ahead with a new brand of balls-out rock 'n' roll. There's no rehashed rap, samples, or drum machines for these boys. The Sign-Offs filled their bellies with nothing but choice cuts of meat from The Clash, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, D-Generation, and The Who. Side dishes of Electric Frankenstein, Radio Birdman, and Nirvana gave the band a well balanced diet of rock. Feasting at this table, it's not hard to see why the Sign-Offs have emerged with an unspoiled style of rock capable of satisfying the most demanding palette. Armed with talent and youth, the Sign-Offs are preparing to blaze a trail from Cleveland to California. Starting with the Warped Tour, the Sign-Offs will spend the summer appearing in rock clubs across America.

    Press Reviews
Cleveland Free Times, Published May 10 - 16, 2000, article by Jason Bracelin/www.freetimes.com --------- "My name’s Tim and I’m the lead guitar player, go fuck yourself." That’s how half the guitar duo at the core of the SignOffs introduces himself into my tape recorder, outside the Grog Shop on a balmy early Sunday morning. This followed a sweaty, gruff performance that ended with Tim jumping into the crowd to have at an audience member. But while Tim’s words were only half-serious, the Sign Offs in their short six months of existence have earned the right to have a bit of an attitude. Earlier in the evening the band demonstrated why they’re currently being courted by a handful of labels, planning to sign by this summer, then embark on their first tour. With wiry lead singer Sim Ross exuding off-handed cool in a pink polka-dotted sleeveless shirt and sunglasses, the band nailed down hook-filled punk rock and roll, spiking the cocksure sass of the Stooges with the sneer of Guns N’ Roses, making them one of the strongest raw rock acts in a town glutted with garage rock contenders. But almost as impressive as the band’s live set is their youth. Three-fifths of the Sign Offs are still in high school, yet they have the confidence and swagger of grizzled rock vets – and more importantly, the chops to outpace many of their elders in the scene, to whom the band feels noneed to pay any lip service. "The younger kids are the only ones that actually enjoy the show," rhythm guitarist Dave Larson says. "The older people just stand there. Older musicians, they worry about whether people think they’re going to be cool or not." And it’s not really their fault; it’s just how this scene has progressed. It has gotten in this mellow mode where you’re not supposed to like the other bands because you’re in a band," Tim says. "It’s really bad news. We’re always out there for other bands. We support every band that we’re friends with, we don’t stand in the back and act goofy – we go crazy, that’s what we’re all about. "But beneath the Sign Offs’ brash demeanor is a serious nature that belies their age, as the band makes no bones about being in it for much more than the ladies – who interrupt the interview on several occasions with cat calls – and free beer. "Most people are in bands for fun; we’re in it for fun, definitely, but we also take a business like approach to the band in everything we do," Dave says. "We don’t have a lot to fall back on," Tim adds. "This is what we’re cashing all our chips on," Dave replies. And the Sign Offs have thus far played their hand well, though the band’s quick rise has earned them the ire of gray-bearded scenesters who feel that they haven’t paid enough dues, which the band is thoroughly disinterested in doing. "We are totally blowing that away; that’s bullshit. You’ve got to have talent, that’s all you got to have," Tim says. "By the time they’re done paying their dues, the band breaks up and they’re nothings again," Dave adds. "We think more bands should write hate songs about us," Tim scoffs at the diatribes that havebeen sent the Sign Offs way. "It’s happened before. There’s a song called ‘Fuck The Sign Offs’that a few bands play." "I just can’t relate to half the people in the scene, it’s too much of a social thing," Chris says. "I’m not in it for a social thing, I’m in it because I love playing music with these guys and I don’t care what anyone thinks. I care about the music and I care about progressing. And taking over theworld." While the latter objective remains on the table for the moment, the Sign Offs will soon hit the road in pursuit of this end after donning the high-school graduation garb, no doubt dropping plenty of ‘tude along the way. "Here’s the final word," Tim summarizes. "We’re the Sign Offs and you can shut your mouth."
