Artist History RKL was started in 1983 in Santa Barbara. Their debut album was Keep Laughing (Mystake records) released in 1985. It came out after they released an EP entitled It's A Beautiful Feeling in 1984. In May 1987 they recorded Rock N Roll Nightmare. This album was originally released on Alchemy Records, but was remastered and re-released 6 years later on Epitaph. In '89 they did a double live album in Berlin for Destiny records. ( The songs on this site ) Then they took a few years hiatus while band members pursued other musical projects. They hit the road again in '94 supporting the Reactivate record which was actually their rock band Slang's record with Bomber fronting the band. Bomber and Mr. Brett from Epitaph had decided to call it an RKL record. Big mistake. Bomber left the band mid tour in Europe and Jason Sears came back aboard to finish the tour and went on to sing on the next real RKL record, Riches to Rags. RKL finally called it quits in '96. Chris Rest and Bomber formed The Other releasing a self-titled album on Honest Don's Snug Fitting Trousers. Dave Raun and Chris Rest now play in Lagwagon. Chris also plays in SF's HOTBOX with Barry. Barry plays in Hotbox (voted Best Local Punk Band, beating out both Green Day and the Swingin' Utters) and fronts a crazy thrash trucker punk band called Crosstops. He also played guitar for Me First And The Gimme Gimmes on their first American tour and filled in with GWAR as Balsac the jaws of death. Raun also plays in Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, and recently filled in on drums for Good Riddance. Joe Raposo now works as a Software Analyst for Sony Computer Entertainment of America and has for the past few years. Jason Sears recently laid down vocals on a track for a Snot tribute album for their late lead singer Lynn Strait.
