Artist description
Rick Hudson & The Boogaloo Band has been in existence for about 2 years now and the University and College gig scene is the better for it. The band consists of a full frontal horn assault led by trumpet & tenor sax backed up
by a relentlessly driving rhythm section with a drummer pounding the skins like Art Blakey in his prime. Together, they create the sharpest funkiest hooks in the Blue Note tradition.

Artist History
The double A Side 7", Chicken/Home Fries, continues a long tradition of food references in funky boogaloo tracks - chicken and home fries being fundamental ingredients in good ol’ funky down home grooves.
Chicken features the horns attacking the killer hook after a totally distinctive wah wah guitar introduction. After two choruses the tenor tears up his solo and manages to stop short just before losing it! The focus returns to the guitar for a fantastic solo that holds it the entire tune together. The complete band blast into another chorus in the final straight and head for the finishing post.
Home Fries is a horn-led groove that is ripped into by an unexpected guitar solo that shocks yet completely fits the tune. The trumpeter takes over, sounding like he’s starting solo duties where Donald Byrd left off. The circle is completed with another stab of the chorus and you’re back where we came in.
