Press Reviews
Mia Thomas - Times Reporter. It's one of those wet summer days the Fraser Valley specializes in - the rain's pouring and there's nothing to do so you curl up by the fire with a cup of tea and listen to the guitar. It's just for those days - and we have many of them in this neck of the woods - that Peter Groenhof's music is made...Spanish for The Dream, the CD is filled with music appropriate to the name. Reflective and soulful, it includes original and traditional instrumentals such as Romance, Breeze, Autumn Leaves and El Sueño de la Muñeca (The Doll's Dream). Groenhof closes with a song he wrote for his wife, Esther. Guitar playing is something Groenhof has come by honestly, growing up in a home immersed in music, genres ranging from classical to pop to world music. He started playing the instrument at the age of 13 and, after enrolling in a secondary school class, his teacher encouraged him to learn classical guitar. Groenhof enrolled at the Fraser Valley Academy of Music and studied under North American Guitarist Hanh Nguyen. |
