Artist History
The band peel was formed in the summer of 1994, consisting of Greg Maddox on drums and Joe Krupinski on guitar and vocals. Three years previous to the bands forming, Krupinski, who studied sound engineering and music theory at Columbia College in Chicago, began writing material in his 8-track studio. As the band progressed, Krupinski created the rough drafts of many songs they were to later complete. A few shows were played before catching the attention of a friend, Tim Reiland. Also a talented guitarist and former member of Chicago band Blanket Party, Reiland joined as peel’s new bassist. Helping to further craft Krupinski’s rough drafts into complete songs. With the departure of Greg Maddox in 1998, the band found themselves in a tough situation. Fortunately, Dave Wilk, answering an ad found interest in the music and soon joined as peel’s new drummer. A self-trained drummer since an early age, Wilk played with numerous bands before joining peel. He is also the current drummer with singer/ songwriter Mark Watson. Lead guitarist John Slater is the most recent addition to the peel family, joining in the summer of 1999. Since his induction, Slater has filled out the sound with his atmospheric, well-rounded approach. The band has benefited in both live and studio situations by the textures Slater applies in his guitar work. |
