Artist History
The Island Riddim Band has been entertaining Bay Area crowds for the past 14 years. The band is made up of four members: Kevin Yee (12 string guitar) is the band leader, Nancy Choi (vocals), Jeff Allard (6 & 12 string guitar), and Leo Montero (bass). All the members in the group were born and raised in Hawaii, later moving up to California to attend college. The band got its start when Kevin, Jeff, and Nancy were performing for the Santa Clara University annual luau’s. After performing for the luau every year, people started to ask the group to play at other events/functions, and before the group knew it, they were an “official” band. Back in the days the group performed a lot of reggae music along with their Hawaiian music, and wanted a name that reflected both influences. After a LONG process, the group finally came up with the name “Island Riddim”. |
