Artist History
DUTY is:
Anders Jansson - Vocals / Guitar
Kent Norling - Synthesizers
BACKGROUND:
Duty was started in the summer of 2000 by Kent and Anders as a test to see if their different music tastes could in someway be combined to create something interesting.
Kent is into electronic music while Anders has a little more wider taste but most of all favours hard rock/metal music. The goal was to create a mix between techno/synth/rock.
The first result became the song "Dirty mind" which was released as a CD-single at mp3.com. This first attempt to define the Duty-sound was performed with very simple equipment but they both realised that they liked working together, and in summer 2001 the album "Collaboration" was released, also at mp3.com.
The next album on mp3.com - "Our world" - which was released in summer of 2002 showed a major upgrade in both the sound and the songwriting skills. A few recordcompanies were interested but not enough to sign the band.
However - Duty appeared on the compilation "Powerspot 9" (Powerspot/Memento Materia) with the song "Looks like trouble".
The song by Duty was voted as the best song on the compilation by 50 DJ's who recieved the record.
And now, in 2003 - the album "Unison minds" has just been released.
The sound is once again taken one more step further. Listen and enjoy......
