Artist History
We’re in the year 1996 and Powergrill come into existence naming themselves after a grill bar and not some car like everybody else does nowadays!Anders, Thomas, Thomas & Claus think of themselves as the quintessence of ”Punk Rock”. The first concerts are being played supporting bands like Hellacopters, Turbonegro and Turbo A.C.’s.1997 – Powergrill release the first album on their own newly founded label, Grillmaster Records – 18 tracks in 37 and a half minutes! The music is described as a mixture of Social Distortion, Ramones & Misfits!1998 – A big concert year for Powergrill. The main part of the shows are in and around Copenhagen. Meanwhile new songs are being made and old ones put away.1999 – Lead guitarist, Anders, quits the band and is replaced by punk rocker, Timmy, from local punk rock band HANX. Powergrill record new songs for their own label and one song for Oregon based Last Chance, a cover of Dead Moon ”Out on a Wire”.2000 – Another line-up change. Bass player Thomas is replaced by ”Smiley” and while writing, Powergrill have two new singles coming out with 8 new songs! In short, The Grill Boys (”Smiley”, Timmy, Thomas & Claus) are back with a handful of punk rock, garage or whatever you wanna call it…! |
