Artist description
For the masses the wall's collapse represents freedom and opportunity. But for Klaus and Gunter, it is a chance for the suppressed visionaries to expose the tedium of the West. Listen to their music and know their agony. |

Artist History
Irritant Number Four was formed in 1991 at Vertaschlasa, a leather club just outside Berlin. Klaus was overheard saying "Excuse me Gunter, but you have disturbed me almost to the point of insanity. There, I am insane now. Let us then make music." The two went on to create the less sucessfull projects: Irritant Number One, Two, & Three. In 1997, Irritant Number Four was born when Gunter slipped in a pool of his own sick, injuring his scull. Now, deaf in one ear, his presence intimidates fans to the point of humiliation. Joined by Klaus, the duo have now mastered the audio spectrum. |

Press Reviews
"Why is it that the truly brilliant are doomed to a life of obscurity, surrounded by a sea of mediocrity, only to end up covered in sores in a pool of their own filth? Irritant Number Four, the visionary countercultural audio-art collective from East Berlin, are genius. By seemingly embracing the cliches of the West, they are underscoring its excruciating banality" - Heike Mueller, critic for the German magazine Shprinkler. |
