    Artist History
Ask anyone who doesn’t live in Massachusetts to tell you about the state and they will probably mention the bustling metropolis of Boston or the dune-swept, tourist-filled areas of Cape Cod. But located ninety miles west of Boston is a whole different part of the state that people seldom hear about. The rural area of Western Massachusetts is a simpler, slow paced environment, filled with people more concerned with each others well being than personal gain. This is where The Skeptics are from. If asked to describe The Skeptics in one word, it would no doubt be "punk", but to only describe them as such would be a severe injustice to their music that brings punk to a new level. The Skeptics defy genre specific terms by incorporating different styles of music that break through the simplistic trappings of punk. Ska guitars, unexpected breakdowns, and spastic blues laden solos dart over tumultuous rhythm lines offering up more interesting music then many of their modern “punk” contemporaries. The depth of their sound is aided by two lead singers who differ stylistically yet greatly compliment each. While DiSanto excitedly lunges into song after song with an energy that the rest of the band must fight to keep up with, Kapitzki timidly brings forth a more earnest, down to earth, heart on your sleeve vocal delivery. In the three years since the bands inception they’ve recorded two CD-EPs and forged a fan base all over New England. A lack of media attention has given them the chance to stay quietly under the radar while becoming one of the biggest unsigned bands in southern New England. This year the band spent countless days on the road sharing the stage with the likes of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Avoid One Thing, The Stryder, Schatzi, and Cadillac Blindside. In addition to their shows around the northeast, the band took three weeks this past summer to play shows up and down the east coast. By years end, The Skeptics had played 70 shows in 12 states just in 2002. The Skeptics began recording their first full length in December 2002 and are expected to finish it by March of 2003.
