Press Reviews
The Malarkies are both melodic and meaningful, writing songs that are asymetrical, pushing further than the convential pop form allows. The lyrics are oblique yet there is something communicated beyond the confines of ordinary language. Listen closely and often. (tropia.com)Beautiful and forlorn, the Malarkies sound as if they have blown on dandelions and wished on shooting stars 'til they were blue in the face -- and still never got a single thing they wished for. The almost physical ache that runs through their music finds its best antidote in sublime melodies. They manage to avoid sounding pathetic, however, even attaining a certain transcendence in the process. (listen.com) |
