Artist History
The idea of starting a band had been in the the back of lead singer and guitarist Pete Keesee's mind since he had parted with his former band, Reveal, to pursue a telecommunications degree in New Jersey. Although he did well in school, he missed playing music on a regular basis, especially in a band setting. That's where drummer Terry Imhoff came into the picture. The two had known each other and worked together for the past two years, but had never really talked about starting of band before. After the two worked on a demo for one of Pete's songs in May of 1999, a musical chemistry began to emerge and the talk of starting a band together became a serious consideration. The next step was to find other possible members. Locating a bass player was easy since Pete's younger brother, Andy, lived under the same roof and happened to be a blossoming young bass player with DOVE's worship team. Pete and Terry then decided to ask Matt McElravy, a keyboardist for the worship team, to consider playing keys and some guitar. On May 9th, Pete made the decision to leave school and start the band. The decision was an easy one after the four of them lead worship at DOVE's youth Sunday service. Since then it has been a blur of practices, songwriting, recording demos, and prayer. The name Changeless came into existence while Pete was at school reading Psalm 59 in the living Bible. It states "God is Changeless in his love for me." other names were thrown around and presented to the band members, but this one seemed to stick with everyone, and at the same time had eternal meaning about the character and nature of God, which is the point of what Changeless is about. |
