    Artist description
The music of Blastrock is meant to be experienced live, on a friday or saturday, with a beer in your hand. Blastrocks music is classic rock’n’roll influenced by both metal and punk. And always fast! Some bands Blastrock like: Motörhead, Monster Magnet, SOD, Early Saxon, New Bomb Turks, Judas Priest, Jerry Lee Lewis, Manowar, Little Richard, The Damned, Kiss, Anthrax, Anvil. The kind of music that followers of fashion hate and makes decent, hard working people angry.

    Artist History
In early 1999, a band named Blast started to rehearse. The band consisted of Ola Wentrup, Joakim Bröms and Per Olofsson. The three members had all played in the mid 90s bizarre stoner/jazz/metalband Into the Void. However, this time the goal was set to be simple, no-holds-barred rock and roll. A couple of CD-singles was released under the name Blast before the band decided to change the name to Blastrock. To this day, the question if the band’s name is the worst or best in the history of rock continues. During 2000 and 2001 Blastrock started getting more and more gigs. In 2001 the band bought their own recording gear, which resulted in more releases on CD and Vinyl. Blastrock also shot a video to the song “Fast Worker” and negotiations about record deals began. In 2002, the band continued recording and playing gigs in Sweden, Denmark and Finland. However, in late 2002 the bassist Joakim Bröms was discharged from the group to pursue a career as an international war-reporter. (Hence the song “Kandahar”...) He was replaced by Harri Kolari from the band Dipper, and while in the process of changing the line-up the band decided to try out a separate vocalist. Blastrock ended up with old headbanging-friend Jonas Polling on vocals. Right now the band is playing gigs and rehearsing for an album that will be released during 2003.

    Press Reviews
Sweden Rock Magazine #8: The Power trio Blastrock rages on with their second Vinyl single and the closest reference is still Motorhead 1979/1980 mixed with old punk rock, even if the influence from Lemmy & Co are less obvious in this release. Tough rock’n’roll with metal drums, rockabilly-echo on the vocals and a guitarist who almost ought to pay royalties to Fast Eddie. The produtions’ sound is rough, which suits this kind of music well. They have squeezed in 3 songs this time. The title track is the strongest, followed by “Special forces”, which has a very good chorus. This recording is something to check up for all you who can’t get enough of really hard rock or you who think that Hellacopters were better in the old days. Sweden Rock Magazinen #9: Blastrock “Promo”. One of Swedens most active bands without a record deal seems to be Blastrock, who, in addition to their new 7” single also sent us a new promo-CD to review. I don’t say no to this, since I really liked their release “Garage Metal”. This promo sounds a bit more clean than their earlier releases, without losing the rough DIY-charm. This time it’s less punk and more metal, the chugga-chugga part in the middle of “Command” is really frightening! The drummer must have been a jackhammer in another life. I was planning to get through this review without mentioning Motorhead, but the sound of the bass is too similar to the one thats hanging round the neck of our warty friend. In spite of this, the band definitely has found a style of their own. On www.mp3.com /blastrock you can find much material. A real high-octane-rock-and-roll injection for all you who want to give Blastrock a chance. Daniel Berg. Close-Up Magazine #55 Vinyl-EP “Like it hard” As the title says, the band from Malmö likes it rough. Looking at the cover, one might suspect that it’s not only the music that should be hard, also the weekends’ activities at the pub. As Patrik Wirén said in #50, Blastrock has obvious influences in Motorhead and also Judas Priest. The title track and “A 1000 Scars” can’t be defined as anything else but heavy metal, but in a rough sense. “Special forces”, on the other hand, is a rock song in Stooges/Hellacopters-style. I’m confused! To play both heavy metal and garage rock just causes confusion. Calle Granhult Sweden Rock Magazine (www.swedenrockmagazine.com) Blastrock “Garage Metal“ 7 P. Garage Metal is a very fitting description for the music of Blastrock. The guitar sound is very influenced by Motorheads Overkill album and the bass almost as powerful as Lemmys Rickenbacker. If our editor heard the production of this record, he would probable want to clean his ears afterwards, but I like this kind of rough production.”One Man Army”, a fast track, begins the record. It’s followed by “Below the belt” which pumps on like a jackhammer. The tracks on side B are not quite as good, but still rock very hard. /Daniel Berg Close-Up #50 Vinyl-EP “Garage Metal” The title on this EP with four tracks, is probably meant to describe the music, but doesn’t really do so. The groups name, on the other hand, does this better- this is really explosive rock. If Lemmy had been by the microphone, one might actually believe this is Motorhead. That’s how good it is. Sometimes one can also hear a bit of 70’s Kiss. It’s rare to come across such a good recording from an (at least for me) unknown band. Patrik Wirén. http://www.geocities.com/chaoticcrit/index.html “That’s Right, Do It One More Time!”Good 70s-inspired boogie rock that features some sweet guitar leads, a party atmosphere, and a bit of an upbeat stoner rock vibe. Track two is particularly catchy with its midpaced bounce and infectious refrain, which features one of the better vocal arrangements on the album. Meanwhile, the third track kicks off with some nice axe licks and a driving rhythm which will have you thinking of punk ‘n roll like Gluecifer or the Hellacopters interms of rhythm, only mixed with a rough’n ready 70s hard rock vibe that I found a little reminiscent of a de-glammed Backyard Babies, with its dirty drunken swagger. This is the sort of music that you crank on your carstereo while drag racing down main street at midnight. This may be a mere four songs, but it is a lot of fun to blare as loud as your stereo can endure, and I look forward to hearing more from this band. Tate Bengtson, Editor, Chaotic Critiques. holy terror.com “That’s right, do it one more time!” CD 7/10 -Four tracks of rock and fuckin’ roll from this raging band of Swedish madmen! Dirty production, full of fuzzy bass, jagged guitars, etc. The singing? No frills, no tricks… just clean, rockin’ vocals. There’s nothing else to call it. The style is comparable to fellow countrymen the Hellacopters, though more laid back and not as contemporary sounding. The mix is perfect, everything is audible and in place, nothing distracts. They’re really riding the border between the simple structures of Kiss and the attitude of late 70’s punk. Faster tracks like “White Jesus” start to sound more like their obvious influences, but it’s still damn good. The disc is also cool because it’s a totally D.I.Y. effort - just a CD-R in a xeroxed sleeve on orange paper. The package is obviously nothing spectacular, just a photo of the band consuming mass quantities of alcohol, but hey, it works. Lyrics aren’t included, but the topics are pretty standard for this style: Drinkin’, rockin’, and chicks, whatever… Blastrock works for me, they really have a dated sound to their writing approach, and I enjoy it. Someone ought to pick up on these guys and put ‘em on vinyl. Rock! [Notable tracks: Ain’t Gonna Beg, White Jesus] It’s pathetic Webzine/Records “That’s right, do it one more time!”BLASTROCK is a swedish band (only 3 alcoholic members) that sounds to me like a mixture between old punk/rock bands and early Motörhead, very interesting, of course!. They talk that are a rock’n’roll-garagemetal-raging rock band (other style more!). Perhaps isn’t the best band of the world but I like it. This promo contains 4 songs in only 12 minutes with very good sound. The songs are : “Just got to have” (the best!), “Ain’t gonna beg”, “White Jesus”, “Benefit”. This band have edited other stuff like two CD-singles and one CD-EP on their own label Puberty Music Inc. Hey dudes: I want a full length CD now! roughedge.com BLASTROCK “Ruthless Fuck” With their self-produced, five song recording, Blastrock shows their colors nicely. Scrawled across the front of their CD are the words: “Mind-blowing Kick-ass rock’n’roll ‘til you burst.” Well, that pretty much says it all. Straight forward rock’n’roll with nothing held back; the listener gets just what is expected, pure music. Blastrock is just some dudes looking for beer, chicks and a good time, when you get down to it, what more is there, really? Killer. Not a classic but it will rock your world. Wenn auch ihr auf diesem Trip seid, dann schaut mal bei der Band vorbei. www.internetmetal.de “That`s right, do it one more time” 04/01 Echter Rock and Roll ist selten geworden. Strike Magazine. Blastrock That´s right, do it one more time! Puberty Music Importado 7,0. (RMF). Comments on www.mp3.com/stations “Greezy Greezy rock a la Hellacopters”. “Strange blend of Metallica, Rush and.......nice vocals and guitars”.”Some old school ala Motorhead... just.driving forceful metal”.”Powertools...does it get any heavier? I think not!” “200 mph”. “I like this. It reminded me of so many things simultaneously. Fast, machine-gun rhythm, but with a decidedly retro vibe to it. Like a no-holds-barred, reckless abandon, smash-the-stage extra-vaganza. Early Who or Stones or Yardbirds, but with modern instruments, production and edge. Yeah”.”It´s another blast from Sweden”. “This is high-speed, run-over-by-a truck MetalRock”.
