Artist History
God Gave me a vision; “Sane CHUK Christianwits”, back in 1996. Kindalike the Gospel/Hip-Hop Version of Weird Al Yankovic. I continued towork and go to school and further my education. Here and there I wouldgrab post it notes and write down ideas of how cool it would be totransform this song, or that song. I was never really much of a singer in myolder years. I saw myself as backup material. I would rap to music on mywalkman, but had no raps of my own. So “Sane CHUK” never really leftthe idea stage, just something I would think about time to time. At thatperiod in my life I was in the mist of transferring from UMass Amherst toRoger Williams University to continue my Architecture Education.I remember specifically the day before I packed my car up to Leavefor Roger Williams U., Me, My Father, My Mother, and Good Friend ofthe Family Pastor/Evan. Sharon Ingram Joined hands in prayer. They wereto pray a customary prayer to send me off to school, and that I would besafe etc.. Well toward the end of the prayer Pastor Ingram Began toprophesy over me. She said she saw me “singing, doing a whole lot ofsinging.” I said to myself, “Sounds good, but in ways almost thought shewas crazy.” There was no “Sane CHUK” even remotely a part of my mindat the time; just, school school, school. So I thought Oh well....So I went to school, and it was, school school school. Justsurvivin, and keeping my grades up. About 3/4 way into the semester, Inoticed them advertising this National Talent Show, “Mastercard Acts.” Iwalked on though the Student Union and Proceeded to check my mail. The talent show kept yanking at me. Kinda thought to myself, should Idisplay the Human Beat Box?...Kinda pondered the thought a bit...thenfigured what the heck, I have nothing to lose. So I signed up and proceedto practice. Approximately 4 days before the Talent Show, I came downwith the worst case of Laryngitis that I had ever had, I could barely talk, letalone do the Human Beat box, I had to Rearrange my skit and take out mybest style. To make a long story short, I won the contest and walked awaywith the cash. “ This Human beat box thing,” I thought, “could really work;people like it.” I did subsequent performances for the Talent Show, andperformed on Radio, and for Telethons, doing my Human Beat Box.As time went by it dawned on me: “You can do the human beat box and make up yourown music Chuk, using your own voice” I said to myself. So I wrote lyrics, took two radios, andrecorded myself doing the beatbox into one, and listened and recorded both me rapping and thebeatbox into the other. It was sketchy, but it was a start. It was...”God’s Bad” taken from L.L.Cool J’s “I’m Bad”. It was a bumpy start but I memorized the song and did several cuts of it,and the rest is history. Sane CHUK Christianwits was Born |
