Artist description
Veritas combines the excitement of improvisational jam rock with thoughtful, poised lyrics. Woven into the texture of these sounds are inspiring African drumbeats (i.e. Cheyanna, Lighting The Ashes) and the intense "multi-syllabic" rhymes of Soulstice, a major hip-hop artist in Champaign-Urbana. This all comes together to give Veritas the unique sound and texture represented by their first true public appearance at WEFT Sessions. |

Artist History
Veritas was formed by Eric Gilbert and Tony Greep, who have been playing guitar and writing songs together for about 3 years now. Last year, Eric and Tony recruited Kevin and John to become the rythm section of Veritas--holding down the guitar texture with their sinuous beats and riffs. A best friend of Eric and Tony, Ashley (aka. Soulstice) joined the group and added what is probably the most daring element of Veritas, hip-hop. Matt joined Veritas late this year and has immensely added to the group by bridging the gap between rythm and lead guitar. The tracks heard here were recorded live on 5/1/00 from a local Champaign radio station, WEFT 90.1 FM. |
