Artist History
Tucker Harlow lists his home town as "Earth". Born to Ester and Thomas Harlow in the fall of 1962, Tucker was called to a life of labor and toil in the melon field of southern California. As a child he would work in the field until dark and then escape to local juke joints. Tucker found himself befriended by many a traveling guitar players as he would volunteer as a roadie or anything else. These friendships led to a knowledge and love for original music. Through a troubled childhood, Tucker found himself in and out of foster care after his parents were both incarcerated for "crimes against the government" in 1976. Through his troubles Tucker always made the time to learn what made people what they were.In 1980, he reached legal age and began a six year trek across the country. Tucker would travel from town to town, find a job, work and live for 3 to 6 months and then move on. This pattern allowed him to make many friends and learn the rich history of the places he would visit. In his travels, Tucker has worked as a gas station attendant, dishwasher, bartender, factory worker, longshoreman, car salesman, and custodian. As a result of these travels, he penned over 400 original songs and poems. Many of them illustrated the isolation and loneliness found on main street USA. The moods of love and love lost are also present in his songs. In 1987, Tucker returned to Southern California to be reunited with his parents, upon their release from prison. The three of them moved to a small town in Montana. Tucker again felt the need to travel. With his way being occasionally dangerous, Tucker found himself a resident in the Cook County Hospital after being stabbed 17 times while sleeping under a Chicago area rail station. The attacker made away with $123 and seven notebooks containing all of Tucker's original songs, artwork and poetry.Upon his release from the hospital, he drifted to Kansas City, where he began working for DC Records. Tucker started as a studio tech and security for shows. Currently, he works as a publicist for many of the labels acts. As part of his payment, DC Records allows Tucker to record anything he wants in their songwriter suite. This collection of music represents the many facets of Tucker Harlow. The listener will find musical influences which range from Aretha Franklin to The Bob Dylan. Tucker's ambition is to record music in every genre, has he believes that a true musician loves all music and art.Tucker's uses a Roland VS 840, Roland GR1 Synth, Alesis SR16, Sure Mics, Aria Pro Bass, American Fender Stratocaster, Alvarez Acoustic Electric, and other assorted studio gear. |
