Artist History
OVERLAND was founded in 1997 by Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Mike Carlisle to record, perform and expand the sound and feel of the music he was writing. Mike was joined by Keyboardist Scott Combs who immediately added depth to the music with his individual style and input on arrangements. After a few variations on Drums Mike was able to convince his good friend Rick Fernandez (a pro Blues and Rock drummer) to join the band as their permanent drummer. A few more variations saw bass player Jim Sprague join the band. Around the end of 2000 Both Scott and Jim left the band to pursue other interests. Jim was temporarily replaced by Mike Barry on bass for several dates. In the Mid-Summer of 2001 Doug Elliott, another long time friend of Mike's joined the band on bass. The band spent the better part of 1999 recording and producing their debut album "Songs From The Road" which has meet with glowing reviews from fans, promoters and other industry people. Since completing the recording OVERLAND has been performing just about anywhere there is electricity and satisfying many large audiences. Up until the spring of 2001 OVERLAND was signed to an artist development agreement with Angelic Entertainment of San Diego, CA until Angelic redefined their focus to their motion picture projects. OVERLAND is currently rehearsing material for their second studio album with a planed release for Spring of 2003 and continues to perform at venues throughout Southern California. |

Press Reviews
Orange County Register, Nov 5, 1999 Show Section, Pop Music, hear, by Robert Kinsler -- "Overland doesn't pay attention to the latest trends -- musical or other wise. How else to explain a rock band more concerned with its song craft..." and "Overland's songs share more in common with the melodic sounds of such bands as The Eagles, Jackson Browne and Crosby, Stills & Nash..." |
