Artist description
Instrumental(maybe retro) rock/fusion with an attitude and many Pop/Rock tunes with an edge. Since returning to music, I have over 700 pages of scores/parts and a suitcase of Teac 4trk. pieces to re-record.
I have had a ton of influences, but Chick,
McLaughlin, Coltrane and Hendrix are the most
influential. In Classical; Bach, Copeland,
Ives, Stravinsky, the Russian school, Bartok and many others of all
periods were/are great influences. During my recent Masters
of Business in the Music and Entertainment Industry
degree at UM,FL., I started to write the classical pieces I have wanted to do, but interuptions of life prevented so. Hopefully, I can hire a Slavic Orchestra to perform them later.
Now I have a nice studio to record in and am mastering mastering. This year
I am mastering the style traditional jazz. It is already affecting my Jazz Fusion. It is coming easy!!! Used to be so hard??? |

Artist History
First real band was Wiskey Road Band with David Horvath, Rick Rhoden and Dennis Lundy. We played mostly Foghat, Allman Brothers, Wishbone Ash, Climax Blues Band, Yes and Emetson Lake and Palmer. We played many styles of the 70's including a lot of Hendrix. We opened for Steppenwolf at Bell Auditorium in 1975. The other members in the band before my brother and I, opened for the James Gang in Atlanta in 1974. We rocked the Bell so hard that that the sound man came out and turned me (guitarist)down during a solo. The crowd stopped dancing like at a WideSpread Panic concert. As we left the stage, Steppenwolf held their noses in the air and didn't say a thing. My undergrad music was at University of Miami school of music. Jazz and Classical guitar/composition. Always been into recording with Teac 4trk Reel to Reels since 1973. Owned five. Former, "The Who's", CPA was interested in signing me to an artist manaagement deal leading to a record deal in '81 but turned down to go to UM again. '81-'82. Had a great band at UM, Inferno, with Ed Mongillo on drums, Rob Chiarelli (works with Will Smith and Madonnna and more in LA. now) on bass and Laz Hernandez on vocals. I worked in the studio with Graham Hawthorne-drms, who later went with Blood Sweat and Tears, also with Dag Kohlsrud, later to be with AHA, ( he was a monster fusion pianist), A saxophonist, Bob Menzer??? in Inferno later went on tour with Jaco to Japan and a few other heavyies went through the studio and live band. Paul Anderson-Alto, went with Chuck Mangione?, Ivie Etkins-Vln. engineered for Heart, Doug Zagorski-drms, real nice touch; reheased with Steve Baily-bass and Rob Cargell for a session that got cancelled at the last minute. Steve was a monster then!!!! I knew Steve was destined for greatness, Glenn Rasmussen-bass and Peter Sprague-pno, helped on a jazz session. Andy Most, an awesome guitarist played the opening lines to Mclaughlin's-Eternity's Breath at a concert with Debbie Spring. She played with guitarist Stan Samole (one in a million), my greatest guitar influence while at UM. Andy listened in on a session with Noah Hershmann and Mike Locke (guitarists on The Ancient) and asked if he could record on another session. I did not have anymore or could afford anymore then. I was blown away and honored. Mark Johnson-pianist (CP Beldwin VP of Editing) and composer for the Contemporary Christian group-SELAH of Miami, not the other SELAH, He wrote the recent national Christian hit, "Step By Step". He helped on Talking Toy, also Doug Spangler-drms on the jazz set with Peter; Vickie Richards-Vln. Past President of the National Indian Music Society, read this real wierd stuff I wrote for Dr. Kam's twentieth century music theory class. I mean it was whacked rhythmically (compound meters and subdivisions infinitum), and she read it correctly right off the bat. She had performed solo prior at Carnegie Hall three times. I also earned an accounting degree and a Masters in the Music and Entertainment Industry. Dad left me a fair chunk of change so while in depression I started collecting and building a studio since 1995. I have a lot of stories to tell but... here is one about a dear friend. Two of my buddies went to Atlanta to see Shakti with John McLaughlin. During the break one got up, he is a Physicians Assistant. At the break he started to take a drink from his concealed flask. He was facing the back of the Chastain park, and McLaughlin quitely came back to stage after the break. Joe said he noticed the crowd quitened a little and he said to his buddys loudly, " You know fellas, theres gonna be lot of M__F__ gitars in the trash Monday", the audience got real quiet and my buddy twisted his neck slowly toward the stage, they were in the front rows, Mclaughlin just smiled back! |

Press Reviews
Privately; Mike Dineen, former WBBQ DJ,
in Augusta, GA., in 1990, told me I sounded like
Eric Johnson if he was wired. That music was
from old Teac four track recordings mixed to cassette. |
