Artist description
Chub represents the new opiate of the people, dropped from the sky via drunk flamingos, as much at home in the Playboy Mansion pool as in the common earhole, frontal lobe, and gyratables. Six jackasses indulging in Latin funk rock Island rhythms in cahoots with pop funk hiphop rock anti-sensibilities -- tropical, ritmo, bumpin, sample-heavy, groove-driven Goofer Pop. A third more calories than the regular bands, tastes great, less filling, twice the gumption. Friends of Astroturf and cheap beer, girls and boys and all the lesser primates. |

Artist History
Chub began its permeation of the human ear in the Spring of 1997. En route to Reef City, California, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our GI Joes beating the b'haysoos outta a faction of fathead Ken dolls, we (boe, Mig and Stammi) were visited by the gods of Holy Goofer and were instructed to poop or get off the pot. So we opted for the former. Onour way back to the City, we happened across Macro the Mighty inside a Central Valley 7-11, trying on fake cop sunglasses. He joined us then and there. We arrived home (San Francisco, CA) and challenged ourselves to see how long we could play our new brand of music -- Goofer Pop -- while simultaneously limiting our audience to a given club's staff. Not long at all, it turned out. The people flocked in, and that's when we realized we were onto the next great opiate. At a concert a couple years later, we collectively pummeled Atom into submission in between cocktails, and convinced deebz to leave his job as a Marvel superhero to beat on drums with us. The rest is yet to be writ. |
