Artist History
I was born in Chicago in 1921. When I was 18 years old, I wanted to study dance but my cousins talked me into studying singing instead. To my suprise, when I started, I found I had a most unusual and beautiful voice. My first solo concert was in 1950. I was a soloist in various cantatas and orios, and had sung in churches in the Greater Chicago area. Some of my roles were Mi Cayla in Carmen, Mimi in La Boheme, Madame Butterfly in Madame Butterfly, Violta in La Traviata, and Margurite in Faust. In the Olympiad Of The Arts, which is held in San Jose California, I won first prize in vocal music the first year I entered which was 1973, and won other awards each successive year after that. |
