Artist History Formed in late 1983, Abraxas is an undiscovered gem in the history of melodic hard rock. Although the band never gained a record deal, the songs presented on 'Studio & Live 1984-86' are of the highest quality. Catchy melodies, powerful rock guitar, a colouring of keyboards, classic rock vocals and a powerhouse rhythm section typify the Abraxas sound. The pedigree of Abraxas is indisputable; Paul Uttley is now vocalist with U.K. melodic rockers 'Lost Weekend', whilst Nigel Hand and John Fryer are now with the glam tribute band 'Glitter & Twisted' with ex-'Cloven Hoof' guitarist, Andy Wood, and Andy Greenwood has a brand new electronic/rock project 'Unkle Velvet', also available on mp3.com. This CD is a 'warts 'n' all' record of what the band produced in just over two action-packed years with all of the live tracks being recorded straight from the mixing desk.
