Longview, TX, 75602 U.S.A.Here's the latest trash that Ditchdiggin' Records `the label that stays in the hole', has to offer. This international comp features bands from USA, the Netherlands, and countries as far off as Canada. The STILLBORNS from Indiana definitely caught my attention. This 2 piece, drum machine using, streetpunk band of lifeless lumps produce a Beer City records type sound that would go nicely along with bands like the Bristles and Skizmatics. The GODDAM DITCHDIGGERS (GDD's for short) from Texas are like a drunken, TPOS records style Confederation of Scum/Oi! type band. I think Limecell would be a decent comparison. Amsterdam's ANTIDOTE.ok, it's 1984, the UK is in decline, everyone saying `punk is dead', bands like GBH, Exploited, Chaos UK, Disorder, and Varukers, are proving them wrong, leather & spikes as far as the eye can see. LES ORDURES IONIQUES from Quebec are a fist raising Francophone streetpunk band, I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of West Side Boys, Glory Stompers, and Shock Troops. These 4 smelly bands fill this 7 inch with the kinda dirty punk rock furiosity that is the reason you're going to wake up one morning and know what side of the bed you've been lying on. The Stillborns 77 pogo street punk 2 piece band from Indiana(they use a drum machine),these mother fuckers will rock you off your feet.Some of their earlier stuff kinda sound like the Ramones,but their newer material is more original and faster,as Chuck seems to have learned how to play guitar better down the road.His voice is raunchier than Joe Strummer's and he seems like he's ready to puke at each word coming out of his mouth.I went to visit this guys in their home town and they're damn good fellows too.Ranking:**** Here's from Mik Lifele$$fuck from the Rough Trade zine "Stillborns-"3"-this kicks ass. I want it on cd but the tape is cool enough. I think this one would have to fall under the ten best tapes I have. "Minor Consumption" kicks ass! I love that fukin song. Here's from Zac D. of Deploi! zine This can definately be classified as punk rock! The Stillborns go back to the old school with this 30 song cd. They have a very original sound; one of the key factors being the strained wheezy vocals. I can definately see some Dead Kennedy's influence in the guitar work, but it's still original, too.
