Artist description
Johnnie Miller is a Living (Australian) National Treasure, and a credit to the species, although he is much too modest to say so, which is why he's paying me a small fee to say it on his behalf. This talented (and incredibly atttractive and charismatic) singer/songwriter has just released his first album, 'Gods and Angels', a collection of original tunes of great wit and beauty. Four of the songs were recently featured on Lucky Oceans' Australian ABC Radio National program 'The Planet', and the album is beginning to receive airplay on ABC Regional radio. Johnnie explores a broad range of subjects, from love to penguins, with passion and humour. The musical style ranges from contemporary folk, through country to rockabilly, and back again by a slighly different route. His rich and expressive singing is a feature throughout.Distinctively Australian yet cultured and cosmopolitan, classically crafted yet as modern as tomorrow (I wrote this last week), this album stands out from the pack and says "Listen to me. Love me. Buy me." We are pleased to offer you, the discerning listener, these hand-crafted and selected songs which we know will give you much listening pleasure, unless of course you don't like them. |

Press Reviews
The Droll opener Nickel Freeway is something like Maria Muldaur meeting J.J.Cale on a good night... Johnnie Millers husky vocal tones fluently mark the title track in an exceptional way. Gods and Angels proclaims its own direction coloured by some interesting accompaniment notably an expressively lyrical dobro on the beautiful duet Meet Me in the Moonlight with Elizabeth Sanderson - an ideal gift for Guy Clark and Emmylou Harris. Gods could be an alternative-sounding Nashville set but up bounces the Aussie-addled Tourism to Mars. Miller injects fun into his craft. **** 4 stars !!!! Terry Reilly The West Australian 22/6/00 ...a work of delightfully individual sensibility, which has not been massaged to death by producers and marketing consultants...Johnnie's songs can make the listener laugh out loud one moment and shed a different kind of tear the next...
