Falling a little too far on the mooky side of androgynous certainly never stopped the legendary New York Dolls from tarting up for a good rock and roll show, though, and it doesn't stop this San Francisco quartet, either. XXOO is only five songs long, but it demonstrates an embryonic band picking and choosing from its influences to come up with its own particular hybrid.
