Artist description
Hailing from the North Dallas suburb of Garland, TX, Violent Mercy has a progressive sound in the mode of Tool, Incubus and P.O.D. providing aggressive music for the soul through its creative technical riffs and a hard hitting Christ centered message. With themes in their music that deal with real world issues such as temptation, the yearning for God, and Satan's hold on this world, the message is strong and "in your face". Evident from their lyrics, Violent Mercy deals boldly with the personal struggles and disillusionment that Generation Y faces in a world where Christ's name is mentioned frequently but is rarely found. Following the example of Christ's ministry and believing strongly in the "Great Commission", the band goes out to where the lost are in such places as skate parks, clubs, and schools. Uncompromising in its message and faith, the band reaches out to those who are searching to fill a void in their lives and need the loving hand of God.Intensity and uniqueness in their sound and lyrics along with a high-energy stage presence are keys to the success of Violent Mercy. Combining youthfulness with a raw but tight sound, the future for Violent Mercy is bright. |

Artist History
In November 1997, Rodney "Alexx" Alexander, Justin Hold, and Chris Downs formed Violent Mercy. Matt "Ian" Siegert soon joined the band after he was spotted playing drums for his local church praise band. . The name Violent Mercy was inspired by Isaiah 53:5 and suggested by Alexx's youth pastor at Freeman Heights Baptist Church in Garland. It is hard to believe but Violent Mercy was originally a Contemporary Christian Praise Band. Through the early part of 1998, the band's artistic identity began to form and the band progressed heavier and heavier. The early performance history included playing for area churches, youth clubs, and billiard halls with other local bands including Infirmity and Rusted Puppet. The band continued to write new material and began work on a self- titled Demo CD featuring "Obsession", "Imaginary Enemy", "Blindside (Invert remix)" and "Worry". Released with full color art and lyrics in late 1998, the demo was a huge success and all of the CD's were quickly sold.In April 1999, the band was spotted by Joyful Noise Productions during GPI Concerts "Battle of the Bands" and Violent Mercy signed an Artist Management Contract with the agency. More shows continued in 1999 and the band began to play in the Deep Ellum Scene at places such as Galaxy Club and Insomnia. In October 1999, Violent Mercy appeared as a special guest on the national syndicated television show, 411 Mag and performed a live version of "Obsession". In early 2000, everything exploded as the band began performing 6 to 8 shows a month. Violent Mercy was asked to be on the "Draw the Line" tour sponsored by Hi-Frequency Marketing which puts together numerous MTV events such as "Rock the Vote". Violent Mercy joined Travail, Nailed Promise and Dinfusion on this tour. The "Draw the Line Tour" brought the band into the limelight as they performed at Dallas' premier live music venues including Trees and Curtain Club. The "Draw the Line" tour included stops at 12 different clubs and is being expanded to include stops in the Texas five state region. Additionally, Violent Mercy is headlining a local club circuit tour called "Hardfest" with Voveo, Infirmity, and ATF. Finally, Violent Mercy headlined the 2000 "Rock for Life" benefit in Dallas and has been asked to be part of the HM Magazine Showcase with .Rod Laver. Violent Mercy has had the pleasure to play alongside great bands such as Solidstate Records' Embodyment and Society's Finest in addition to the before mentioned Nailed Promise and Travail who both have National Record Deals. In June 2000, Violent Mercy signed a record contract with Dallas' Antimatter Records with management and booking continuing through Joyful Noise Productions. The band was sent to the studio to record their full-length CD entitled "Alone". This 10 song CD is scheduled for public release in August 2000.The lineup for Violent Mercy includes:1.
