Artist description
Mixing sultry power with gentle grit, SuperHoney embodies the aesthetics of vintage soul without resorting to cliché retro 70's stylings. SuperHoney garnered a nomination as "Best Live Band" at the prestigious 2000 Boston Music Awards and was the winner of "Boston's Best Soul and R&B" band by the Boston Phoenix. While the essence of SuperHoney is best captured in their emotive live performances, their calling card has been the effusive -- yet dynamic -- vocal delivery of Joanie Pimentel. Drawing comparisons to Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, Joanie has won broad critical acclaim for her extraordinary vocal talent -- including two Boston Music Award nominations for Best Female Vocalist (2000 and 1999). |

Press Reviews
"SuperHoney's one of the best Boston bands of the late '90's....and as a live band, frankly, very few acts in this town can even touch them, and that's saying something. While their music is splendidly accessible, they don't pander to watered-down funk tastes. A little bit of soul on the Boston scene is always welcome and SuperHoney provides that and more."
