From the organart website...www.organart.com..SONATINE demo "MORE EVOLVED" - Now this stands out right away.... Here's another band taking themselves down different roads. Sonatine are a complexed nu-metal outfit who don't actually have any metal in there....This is good. They resist the temptation to erupt just for the sake of it, where lesser bands would opt for the expected kick in and the crunch of big chords, Sonatine opt for the far less obvious move, they pull out and hold you back. There's a fusion of tension and restraint - it's bendy, chewy, jazzy - innovative, challenging, they really do sound like no one else. OK then I'll throw a lazy reference point or two just so you can get some kind of fix as to where we are on the musical map - how about Primus meets Geigercounter or Monkey Boy or Stoopi with a hint of a Kornotones-Against-The-Machine and some slightly aggressive vocals, they do have a hint of a Korn feel, never anything obvious though. Actually they're delightfully impossible to pin down, this is indeed rather satisfying. Plenty of groove in there, very creative. If the sound quality was a little better then we'd be looking for a track to put on an Organ Radio compilation - the production is just a little too harsh, but hey, it's a demo right. Sonatine stand out with their innovative qualities and their desire to be different, their obvious need to take musical risks - it's early days, there's something very good brewing here.... stick around and see what happens e.mail: ecliptic@sonatine.fsnet.co.uk
