Artist description
That BIG SOUND you're hearing emanating from Chicago is the very talented quartet Million Yen. This could be the pop/rock band that is going to bridge the "gap" between young "alternative" listeners and older "classic rock" enthusiasts! Mixing some of the "in your face" rock of Social Distortion with pieces of the Foo Fighters, the Goo Goo Dolls, psychedelia and enough of their own originality, this band cooks! They have recorded a dozen excellent tracks, and are circulating a CDR of these songs in search of a label deal. Million Yen also has high regard for pop song sensibilities-setting their hook and getting the listener to hum along to each of the under-four-minutes-long songs. "Poor Little Rich Kid" is an "aching for airplay" tune that will decieve many listeners into believing that this is a Foo Fighters song. The BIG GUITARS and the BIG SOUND are equally prevalent on "Chemical Drip" and "Velveteen" (the two songs featured on the bands first 7" vinyl release). Somebody please sign this band so "Poor Little Rich Kid" can simultaneously invade the high school, college, and "adult" radio markets! -Eric Sorenson, AMPLIFIER vol 4, # |
