Press Reviews
It’s straight ahead, has nice vocal power, and is very catchy. This band has a nice sound, and is something accessible to punk rock advocates of all ages. The blend of old school punk rock, and the poppy undertones makes for an easily grasped sound. I personally like the album for the straight vintage sound. It’s good to get back to the quick, hard, and heavy songs of the past with a new age twist and Hoppin’ MAD brings you there.www.rockzone.com – reviewed by SamuelA tight and fast, chaotic yet melodic pop punk band encasing simplistic but entertaining lyrics. Pulling lyrics from experiences that many have been through, seen or experienced, Hoppin’ MAD paints a humorous and often times silly take on life while still being able to take a stern look inside. It will be very interesting to see what the future holds for these three, but by all means don’t wait that long to check these guys out, do it now. Skratch Magazine(Tustin, CA) – reviewed by Jaymes MayhemHoppin’ MAD out of Detroit are a new school band that are fast paced and sorta’ poppy, but they also blend the rawness of 80’s punk bands like Black Flag and Minor Threat to form a sound of their own. I see a lot of potential for this band to go far. Overall “Don’t Waste Your Time” is a killer punk rock record.www.punkinterviews.com – reviewed by DanielI’ve been looking forward to this since I first saw these guys, and it was worth the wait! This trio plays awesome, fast, pop-punk accentuated with some of the cutest vocals and catchiest guitar solos. All the songs are full of lively spunk with a couple heavier ones, too. I should add that this gives you a taste of their super energetic live show, too.Burnt Fanzine (Parsippany, NJ) – reviewed by Franco Ortega3 to 4 chord progressions with some soloing laced in, a nice change, clever little flairs. The bass is strong, doing solo’s here and there, too, while the drums are a solid base. In other words Bill, Jay and Chuck of Hoppin’ MAD know their instruments. Vocals carry the tune; backups are great. Hoppin’ MAD’s humor is also fresh, even biting. I’m guessing these guys like to have fun. www.worldwidepunk.com – reviewed by Conrad: Dec. 20, 1999This album is proof of the bands persistence, and consistency through the years. Be sure to pick this one up.Uprising: MI/Ohio punk/hardcore zine – reviewed by RonYou can’t help but scream along to all the songs on this. The lyrics are incredible, and the beat makes me want to smash me head into a wall. I LOVE it!!! Scatterbrain punk/hardcore zine (Wichita, KS) – reviewed by AlexandraI Love these guys! This CD just adds to their kickassness. It is fast, energetic pop-punk from the grand ‘ol city of Detroit, MI. This CD rules.Spastic on-line zine (Grand Blanc, MI) – reviewed by MikeThe drums are fast, the bass is finger bleeding, the guitar churning, and the vocals are true punk rock. A mighty release from a mighty band.Mutant Renegade (Dayton, OH) – reviewed by Mite |
