Artist History
Greg (vocals) and Gary (drums) have been playing together in bands since the early 90s. Actually, they were in the high school jazz band together along with bandmate Chad (bass). After their first band, Jester's Folly, broke up Greg and Gary decided to start new and recruited Chad as their bass player. After a year of working on new music and giging as a three piece band they decided that it was time to find a fourth member, and asked Tim (guitars) to join the crusade. Since then, dirtyhelen has spent most of their time working the local music scene in Dallas/Ft. Worth and is creating a name for themselves everywhere they go. Currently the band is finishing up work on their new CD titled "Literally," and gearing up to embark on a national Hard Rock Cafe tour which they won in the Hard Rock Cafe's "12 Bands of Christmas" National Contest. |

Press Reviews
"Greg McCormack and Gary Batts have been hawking their wares from the region's stages for more than four years, first as part of Jester's Folly and eventually, after many different permutations, as one half of acoustic pop-rockers dirtyhelen.
The songs on Sleep are densely written forays beneath the surface of McCormack's mind and life. Instead of straight narratives, McCormack delves into his experiences and pulls out odd, off-kilter vignettes that derive their strength and resonance less for their literal meaning than for the emotions they arouse. The title song, for example, contains the darkly ambiguous lines, "He says life is a poetic romance filled with broken metaphors/So he finds a place to sit and make a bed on the floor," which float on a rich, smoky, jazz-inflected backing that helps evoke a pungent sense of lonely isolation." - Colin Maycock, FW Weekly Magazinee |
