Press Reviews
"Your track Abrasive was a crusher! The crystal sharp breaks are what I do myself so the whole vibe was slicing the crowd to pieces." - Dustlab - "...yeah man I dropped it (Motion Sensor/Turbine) Saturday night and one of the promoters - who i assume had never seen a dubplate before was going crazy..." - Jeremy Kirk of http://www.faderwars.com - "Courage is quite a unique act. The band definitely sits at the dark end of the drum and bass spectrum, favoring the eerie and the ominous over the pleasant and secure. Each track is completely unique in sound and instrumentation, but all share the same uncaring malevolence. Courage stays true to the DnB definition, keeping tracks stripped and minimal, focusing on dead-devastating breakbeats and harsh angry baselines that jar and amaze. But that's not what makes Courage unique. The band's mastery of the music, the excellent production, perfect progressions, and overall flawless execution makes Courage unique and one of the bands to beat. Courage is no newbie. He's been producing for 10 years. That experience shows." - EPD of drumandbass.cc - "we have another dark stormer here entitled catalyst. robotic synth stabs are the main element and while at first they may seem annoying to the casual listener....you can tell this track has been created to freak those brains on a rammed dancefloor! i really enjoy minimal dnb, when a producer can stand true to only a few elements to cover a track. the individual elements have to be good, if not, it all sounds very bad very quickly! courage has been "blending his soundscapes for over 10 years" as it states on his mp3.com artist page and believe you me, you can hear it in the way he has a knack of getting a song structure just right.. there's great contrasts going on throughout the track here. the great sharply panned synth stabs give the track a very "closed off" sinister feel, as if you can virtually hear the boundaries of the wall of your brain. the rest of the mix is a great blend of dark, morphed basslines and some clever cutting of breaks. it must be pointed out though; the hi-hat percussion element was slightly drowning the beats slightly and didn't allow them to have that over-all impact needed for total dancefloor devastation. the bongos seem to be making a well deserved return to the drum & bass lately and they always give a nice airy feel to a track. courage spreads em out in catalyst and once again shows how different sounding frequencies really make a better overall sounding track. the icing on the cake to the track is a wonderful drifting pad sound that really adds that important element of depth to the track. this one is dubplate material...oh it already is! added to the top tracks list with a health warning!" - Sense of Raw42 |
