Artist description
Silicon 39 is an acronym - a faceless name for the musical talents of Ian Wilson. Originally from South Africa, Ian began his musical passion as a young hobby-musician, and continues this today from a home studio in suburban New Jersey. Although musical passion stems from way back, things began to happen in early 1998 when Ian decided to put vocals to his music. Silicon 39 was born, and became official in 1998 on release of the first CD, entitled Reasons & Angles. All songs, arrangements, instruments, programming, and lyrics are performed by Ian.The musical style of S39 is a mixture of Rock and Pop, reminiscent of bands from the New Wave era. The music has a modern edge to it, with a harder, more grungy sound than its New Wave predecessor. It varies from Rock, to Pop, to Dance, to Electronica, and has been described as Alternative SynthRock. The rhythm of the music is upbeat, with occasional dark and angry lyrics finding their way into the mix. This makes for some interesting and often contrasting imagery. Intelligent lyrics with attitude, and catchy hooks combine to burn a lasting impression in your mind.http://members.xoom.com/silicon39/index.html |

Press Reviews
"Silcon 39 - Listened to Tree From The Bark & Killer In The Crowd off the Reasons and Angles CD. Now here is a guy who knows synth pop/dance music. Ian Wilson, the man can do it all. He writes, arranges, produces, programs, and sings. In fact, he played all the instruments on the whole CD. His songs are very catchy, poppy, hook oriented dance with unusual lyrics which are sometimes angry. For example he has one song with a dance beat about a guy who blows up bars. Talk about contrasts. Ian is originally from South Africa and now lives in New Jersey, I guess Ian's life is as full of contrasts as his music. He is a very good singer with that British accent. He is definitely influenced by Depeche Mode. I like this CD a lot and would buy it based on two songs I listened to. My favorite was Tree from the Bark ..."Quoted from Reviewer:13 - Renegade Reviews |
