Artist History
I'm Eldin Green from Top Secret Records. I have been involved in music since 1962 when I first picked up a harmonica given to me by my grandfather. I started my musical training in 1963 with the clarinet, moved into the saxophone in 1964, and in 1967 I was given a guitar. I have been exploring music in different genres from that time, studying jazz, classical, and popular music. Along the way I have learned to play many instruments and today continue by playing guitar, tenor sax, keyboards, vocals, and occasionally the other varied related intruments during recording sessions. My recording career began in 1969 with a mono condensor mic cassette tape player. I have since recorded music in studios used by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Kenny Loggins, Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors. I have also been very fortunate to work with some very talented musicians in my career including John Mayall and Three Dog Night.
I currently work on the north coast of California with bands like the Mike Craghead Trio, Sluggo, Spudgun, and Mixed Nuts. I now own a little recording studio and indie record company called Top Secret Records and I'm always involved in a project or live music. Hey, I'm just a working musician that keeps on playing! Many of my musician friends have given up over time, but I love to play and have continued through all these years. I hope you like my music... Thanks for stopping by! |

Sunny Brae's Eldin unwraps lush new effort
By Kevin L. Hoover
In his new release "Top Secret," Eldin Green takes the wraps off
a richly wrought portfolio of polished pop.
Coupling stylistic recklessness with overwhelming instrumental
firepower, Green deploys an ambitious array of tunes in his second
album.
With lushly informed excursions into roaring rock, jumping jazz and
perversely progressive domains, Green's advancement since his first
album, 1993's "Monkey Jam," is clear.
Unhindered by offputting experimentation, the album crisply redefines
familiar themes in what sounds at times like an hour's worth of classic
rock from an alternate universe.
While side one of the album never veers far from the mainstream,
it stays far enough off center to hold interest. Green exercises his
studio chops as the medium veers from straight-ahead rock through
pop and blues efforts.
Side two is an almost exhibitionistic display of genre-hopping. Green
declares his Zappa heritage in "Race Car Driver," then cools his heels
in the snazzy retro-jive "Sax Cat." "One Small Step" sounds like
Marvin Gaye's personal space program.
Green's songs lock onto rolling rhythms, around which strings of
instrumental and vocal interest are wound.
With a 10-member band wielding guitar, keyboards, brass, at least
one woodwind and drums, few possibilities are left unrealized.
The resulting exhaustive explorations could induce imagination
fatigue in the fainthearted.
If, as some say, Sunny Brae is the Haight-Ashbury of Arcata,
then Green's "Top Secret" could be the "Lumpy Gravy" of the 90's.
